EDGES

WORKTOP EDGES

Choosing the right worktop edge is crucial. It completes the look of your kitchen. Your choice of worktop edge is guided by the material that you install and the cabinetry you are installing. Rounded and Bevelled edges are the most popular and affordable, which suffices for the majority of worktops. However, more detailed edges like Ogee, Sharks Nose and Dupont also have their place to finish off a more contemporary or traditional setting in a more intricate manner.

EDGE TYPES

Various worktop edges are available to suit different kitchen designs and budgets. There can be multiple options and some edge styles can be combined to enhance your unique style. Please note that some edge profiles are considerably more expensive to apply as they require considerable work from the fabricator. Here’s some of the most popular types and descriptions.

BEVELLED

This edge maintains the surface thickness and appears square with a slanted top edge. This is a very popular edge that lends itself to the sleek contemporary handleless kitchens that are becoming more common place in the home.

BULLNOSE

A completely rounded finish that maintains the surface's thickness. This edge offers a soft feel lent towards curved kitchen designs.

HALF BULLNOSE

The delicate curve of a bullnose edge with a flat bottom. The soft, rounded top makes this edge perfect for traditional kitchens.

SHARKS NOSE

A cut back edge with a choice of bevelled or rounded top section. Very commonly installed into handleless kitchen designs to ergonomically allow the user more space to open the doors.

DUPONT

A classic style edge with a simple step down before cutting out to a half bullnose. This edge is popular in classic traditional kitchens with shaker style doors.

COVED DUPONT

A crescent curve that leads into a 90-degree angle with a rounded bottom. A classic, refined edge profile with a touch of a modern design.

OGEE

This traditional style edge features a concave arch that transitions into a convex arch. This is also often called a ‘Lambs Tongue edge’.

MITRED

A mitred edge is created when the corners of two slabs are cut to a 45-degree angle and seamlessly joined together. Commonly used to create a thicker overall worktop look using industry standard thickness materials.

PENCIL

A soft round to the top and bottom edge complete this edge detail.
